Programming Languages
This includes the compilation of procedural languages as well as language
constructs for data abstraction and parallel processing.
-
Software Development Processes
The management of large software projects. This would the entire software
life cycle on project that would involve several professionals working
on projects for a number of years. Also included is the use of software
tools, especially RAD tools, within the development process.
-
Connectivity
The use of computers in networks. This includes local area networks
as well as world wide connectivity via the internet and intranets.
-
Computer Science Education
Currently involved in developing materials for CSC160 using the Delphi
RAD software development environment. This is a Pascal based visual
programing tool very well suited for beginning students of computer science.
Also continuing work in bring RAD tools into upper level database and software

I became, instrument certified. I fly mostly a Cessna single engine aircraft.

Travel
My wife and I enjoy traveling. We travel mostly in the US but some
in the rest of North America. Since we were married, 7 years ago, we have
been in 38 US states and 5 countries. We make two or three pleasure trips
a year. This past Memorial Day weekend we camped in the Smoky Mountain
National Park for 4 days. In August, just before school started,
we camped a total of 11 nights in Colorado. Part of the time we were
joined by Steve and Cheryl and our grandkids. While Illinois baked
in the summer weather we had the heater going strong! It was great
fun!!
-
Country Dancing
We were country before country was cool. Whenever we can we go dancing.
Mostly it is country dancing, but we also enjoy ballroom dancing. We, however,
dance strictly for fun. We do not try to compete with the younger crowd.
